From June 28 to July 3, 2010, European Championship Women Division C is due Yerevan. The championship features the teams of Armenia, Andorra, Zimbabwe, Moldova, Scotland, Wales, Azerbaijan and Malta. On March 2, Azerbaijani team refused to arrive in Armenia. The Basketball Federation of Armenia today confirmed the information.

Azerbaijan's name is already removed from the FIBA Europe playlist posted on the structure's website a month ago. Azerbaijan is said to have given a final answer to FIBA Europe yesterday.

The women teams of Armenia and Azerbaijan have held no meetings though during a 2004 European championship Armenia ranked 4th and Azerbaijan - 7th .

Unlike Azerbaijan where women basketball is at a low level, Armenians display a keen interest towards basketball thanks to the recent success of Yerevan Hatis basketball club.
