Tsaghkevank or Kuys Varvara

Tsaghkevank or Kuys Varvara monastery in a cave on Mount Ara in Armenia. Locals celebrate Christian holidays. There is a source Monastery, which says that it has healthy qualities, especially in view of the eye. There is a large number of zinc levels in the water, which aids in vision, as well as joints and muscle spasms. Local residents call it “Holy Water”.

Tsakhevank is considered to be the statue of Virgo Varvara. And according to the Vatican, Saint Vartara, like St. Christopher probably has a fabulous existence, and if not, or in the hands of his cruel father, to die for christianity or to be stolen by angels.

Legend of Tsaghkevank

According to another legend, a virgo girl named Flower lived. One of the Armenian princes likes him, his beauty and wants to seize him. The flower is afraid to escape to the valley of Ara. At the foot of the mountain, he meets a shepherd who lays the sheep and asks no one to come to his place. The angry prince begins to look for the flower to punish him, shepherds meet, the shepherd is afraid of him and declares the place of the virgo. When the flower saw the prince reach him, he climbed a huge rock and threw himself down. At that moment, the betrayer was crushed by his sheep. The name of the flower is also called the chapel on the Araya Mountain by its name. Water dripping from the roof of the chapel is considered the tears of the flowers virgo. People come and take it from the water, believing it will heal them and the animals’ eyes.
